About Us

Spearfishing is a fantastic sport that combines the thrill of catching fish and the extreme tranquility of freediving. It is unique in that spearfishing is one of the oldest methods of catching fish and is extremely ecological, providing virtually zero by-catch thus reducing the damage to fish populations and ensuring sustainable fishing practices.

Many people, such as ourselves, are drawn to the ocean in many ways whether for therapeutic benefits or other sports such as surfing. People tend to live in the past or worry about the future, when submerged under the ocean there is only the present moment, enjoy it!

Spearfishing in Barbados can be a great experience with clear waters and tasty tropical fish. Be aware of protected zones around the island or you could face a hefty fine and your gear confiscated! Respect the ocean, understand that mother nature is more powerful than you and most importantly; never dive alone.

Dive safe.

About Alex – AIDA Freediving Instructor, Spearfishing Barbados Guide, CPR/AED/First Aid Emergency Responder Instructor, AIDA Competition Safety Diver, 9x Barbados Record Holder

Coming from a small town in the South West of England I grew up spending all my spare time in the ocean, from surfing the local break to being a junior member of the RNLI’s surf-life-saving club, even fishing from the rocks or jumping off the cliffs at high tide I could not get enough of the sea. Moving to Barbados is a big step for anyone (especially a Brit that can’t get a tan) but I embraced it with open arms knowing that the salty water at the end of the road held much more of my future free time than I initially thought.

I started Spearfishing Barbados at the beginning of 2013 as I was becoming more and more frustrated with staring at my computer screen wishing that I was instead, 60ft under hunting my next meal. My passion for the sport and ability to articulate knowledge and instructions has helped carve my own little niche on this tiny rock in the Caribbean. Having previously been a kickboxing instructor for nearly 4 years I always enjoyed leading exciting activities and gain immense satisfaction from seeing my clients safe, happy and wanting more.
